Day 2 – Sustainable Fashion: The 100-Day Dress Challenge

Today was the second day of my 100-day dress challenge (read more about the challenge and what happened on the first day of the 100-day dress challenge here)! This will be a pretty short update, as I spent most of the day cleaning out my closet. Although I made good progress, it’s not entirely done (alas, tomorrow is another day). Hence, the short post. More about that project later!

Anyway, on to what happened on day two of the 100-day dress challenge! Very early in the day, I realized (or remembered) a few things as a result of “the dress”:

  • Donning an apron will help my dress stay clean: As I started to make breakfast for my family, I quickly remembered that I am pretty messy! The fact of the matter is that I’m too messy to be in the kitchen sans apron if I want my dress to stay clean. Aprons are clothes-savers. The good news is I own a bunch of them. I guess I’ll be putting them to better use in the coming months!
  • Wearing jewelry is one of my favorite things: Those who know me well will not be surprised that I love jewelry! The dress brought this front of mind as I tried to figure out how to fancy it up. For whatever reason, I never finished unpacking all of my necklaces when we moved into our home almost four years ago. This challenge motivated me to make that happen (and work on my closet). Hooray for progress!
  • Challenging myself is highly motivating: I love challenges! My doctoral journey came to a close at the end of 2021. Everything was finalized in early 2022. I had been working on my dissertation for so long that I didn’t know what to do with myself. While this project isn’t nearly as challenging as writing a dissertation, it’s still motivating me. Here’s to continuing!
  • Remembering to acknowledge the “messy” is essential: One of the things about social media (and posts like this) is that it tends to show the highlight reel of people’s lives. My primary goal with this challenge is to motivate myself and those I encounter positively. Many of my posts will likely focus on the positive, but I’ll do my best to share some of the messy (understanding we all deserve privacy and not all things need to be shared). Even if I don’t always focus on the messy, please know it’s there!

That’s all for today; more to come soon! Feel free to follow along on my adventure. Having you joining me will make it all the better!
